Yann LeCun launches 224 Ventures AI fund with $100M AUM, 244 operator LPs
Yann LeCun, Meta's former chief scientist, has launched 224 Ventures, a new AI-focused fund backed by 244 limited partners, primarily AI operators and technical founders. The firm manages $100 million in assets and will deploy capital through $1–5 million checks into AI-native teams.
The fund is run by LeCun alongside Google DeepMind researcher Oriol Vinyals and AIX Ventures founder Shaun Johnson. The timing follows a fallout at another fund: LeCun had initially joined Extelligence Invest last month but departed after conflicts with existing exclusive fund relationships emerged. In statements to press, LeCun said those prior exclusivity issues were unresolved at the time.
LeCun remains an advisor to London-based Hiro Capital. He also leads AMI Labs, his Paris-based world models startup that raised $1 billion last year. For practitioners, 224 Ventures signals a new operator-focused GP lineup betting on early-stage AI startups with $1–5M cheques, distinct from mega-funds' later-stage focus.
