Wistron opens $700M NVIDIA AI manufacturing plant in Fort Worth

Wistron officially opened a 324,000-square-foot advanced manufacturing facility in Fort Worth, Texas, representing a $700 million investment. The plant will produce NVIDIA GB300 Grace Blackwell Ultra Superchips and Vera Rubin Superchips, scaling to tens of thousands of boards per month. The facility, designed first as a digital twin using NVIDIA's Omniverse and Cosmos models, will employ over 500 workers with plans to expand to 1,000 by year-end.

NVIDIA founder Jensen Huang joined Wistron Chairman Simon Lin at the opening ceremony, emphasizing the plant as core to US reindustrialization. NVIDIA has committed to manufacturing up to $500 billion in advanced AI platforms in the US through partnerships with TSMC, Foxconn, and Wistron. The factory represents the first NVIDIA superchip production facility in America—the GB300 is described as a 1.5-million-part, 2-ton system costing $4 million each.

For architects, this signals critical localization of AI hardware supply chains beyond wafer fabrication. While advanced packaging still routes through Taiwan, system assembly and testing now happening on US soil reduces cost and lead-time friction. The Fort Worth plant feeds Mistral's Microsoft partnership and broader North American cloud buildout, underpinning edge-case inference and training workloads that require domestic availability.
