Muon Space raises $250M Series C at $1.5B valuation; targets 500 satellites/year by 2027

Muon Space closed a $250 million Series C funding round at a $1.5 billion post-money valuation, bringing total equity raised to $386 million. The round was led by Eclipse Capital, with participation from Google, Salesforce Ventures, Wellington Management, I Squared Capital, Woven Capital, and returning investors Radical Ventures, Congruent Ventures, Costanoa Ventures, and others. The oversubscribed round comes as satellite constellation demand accelerates across commercial Earth observation, wildfire monitoring, RF analytics, and military applications.

Muon has demonstrated execution: 11 satellites deployed across six launches in 2021-2026 with a 100% mission success rate. Seven launches in H1 2026 alone. The company is now operating two customer constellations: Vindlér 2.0 for Sierra Nevada Corp. (RF data/analytics) and FireSat (global wildfire detection, co-developed with Earth Fire Alliance and Google.org, named one of TIME's Best Inventions of 2025). Muon's San Jose manufacturing facility, opened in June, is designed to produce up to 500 satellites annually by 2027—a 10x expansion from previous capacity.

For infrastructure investors and architects, this reflects accelerating demand for vertically integrated "Mission Foundry" models (mission design + spacecraft + payload + software + operations as a bundle). Muon competes on speed: constellations in months vs. traditional industry cycles of years. With >50 satellites in development for customers and 13 already manifested for launch, the company is executing on the subscription-satellite-as-infrastructure thesis. Watch for competing platforms (Apex, K2) to adopt similar integrated approaches as space manufacturing becomes table stakes for AI compute, Earth observation, and comms workloads.
