Innolight upsizes Hong Kong IPO to $7 billion, poised for 2026 record

Chinese optical module maker Zhongji Innolight upsized its Hong Kong IPO target to $7 billion, up from an initial $5 billion target, due to stronger-than-expected institutional demand during roadshows. The company received approval from China's securities regulator on July 8, cleared the Hong Kong Stock Exchange listing hearing on July 17, and could debut in the first week of August. At $7 billion, the deal would become Hong Kong's largest IPO of 2026, surpassing Luxshare Precision's $3.1 billion sale in early July.

Innolight makes optical transceivers and modules that allow high-speed data movement between servers in AI data centers. The company has been the world's largest optical interconnect solutions provider by revenue for five consecutive years since 2021. Q1 2026 results show explosive growth: revenue surged 192% year-over-year to 19.5 billion yuan, while net profit jumped 262% to 5.7 billion yuan, driven by AI infrastructure demand. Full-year 2025 revenue was 38.24 billion yuan (approximately $5.6 billion), up 60.3% YoY, with net profit at 11.58 billion yuan (approximately $1.7 billion).

For infrastructure architects, Innolight's rapid expansion signals that optical interconnect capacity has become a critical AI data center chokepoint. The company will use IPO proceeds for R&D, global capacity expansion, strategic acquisitions, and overseas manufacturing in Southeast Asia. However, geopolitical risk is present: as a deep supplier to NVIDIA, Alphabet, and Meta, Innolight faces exposure to US-China trade policy shifts and semiconductor export controls.
